Therapeutic Conversation. Built by the Professionals.

Watershed is an AI emotional support tool built from the real clinical knowledge and experience of licensed mental health practitioners. It's constantly being updated with the current practices and strategies of practicing therapists.

Every response is shaped by clinicians who are in the room with real clients every week, people who understand what it actually means to sit with someone.

It is not a therapist. It will tell you that. But a lot of people are using AI for help and a lot of therapists want to meet you where you are.

What makes it different
01
Actually built by therapists
Not advised by therapists. Not "trained by psychologists." Built and continuously refined by licensed clinicians who are actively practicing.
02
Listens before it talks
Watershed is designed to hear you first. It doesn't jump to solutions. It doesn't hand you a list of coping strategies. It follows your lead.
03
Honest about its limits
Watershed cannot replace a clinician. It will tell you that clearly and often. When you need a real person, it will help you find one.
04
It doesn't keep you here
Sessions run 90 minutes and end on purpose. Watershed winds the conversation down as the end nears instead of cutting you off, says what happens next before it arrives, and tells you how long is left whenever you ask.

No mystery. This is the whole machine.

Safety is checked before anything else, including whether you are a subscriber. It reads what you mean rather than matching keywords. It draws on a knowledge base contributed by practicing clinicians, who are paid every time their knowledge is used. And it responds the way they taught it to — curiosity before conclusions, and no easy agreement.

Just as deliberately: it isn't therapy, it doesn't keep you here, and it never learns from your conversations.

The story behind Watershed

I'm a practicing therapist. I noticed something that bothered me. So I built something.

Gabriel Kelley, LCSW

More and more of my clients are using AI between sessions. Sometimes it helps them. Sometimes it makes things significantly worse, because it doesn't know what it's doing clinically. It just sounds like it does.

So I started looking into what was actually out there. And here's what I found: there are platforms that mention a PhD on their website. There are some that say their AI is "trained by psychologists." But I couldn't find a single one actually built and operated by practicing therapists, people who are in the room with real clients every week.

Therapists are expensive, hard to find, and only available 50 minutes at a time. That gap is real and it affects people who are already struggling. And in that gap, people are turning to whatever is available.

We are all going to use these tools. That's just reality. The question is whether those tools are built by people who actually understand what they're doing, or by technologists who see mental health as a market.

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I work in an Intensive Outpatient Program that serves my local community and a local residential recovery program in western Massachusetts. I built Watershed from the clinical knowledge and experience of practicing therapists across different specialties and perspectives, grounded in actual frameworks, designed to listen before it says anything.

It's not a therapist. It tells you that. But it's the most clinically honest version of this that I know how to build, and I'm building it with other clinicians who care about the same things I do.

Built in the Berkshires.

How Watershed works

No mystery. This is the whole machine.

Most AI will tell you what you want to hear. Watershed was built by practicing clinicians to do something harder — listen well, stay honest, and draw on real clinical knowledge when it responds. Here is exactly what happens when you talk to it.

When you send a message, four things happen — in this order
01

Safety comes first. Literally first.

Before anything else — before it even checks whether you are a subscriber — your message is checked for signs of crisis. If they are there, everything stops: you get a full response and real crisis resources (988, the Crisis Text Line at 741741, and 911 for immediate danger). An expired subscription does not change that. The order of operations was built so that safety outranks revenue, every time.

02

It listens for what you mean.

"It just feels far away again, I guess" is not a search term — it is a feeling. Watershed reads your message in the context of your conversation and works out what is actually being said: the longing under the metaphor, the worry under the joke. That understanding, not keywords, is what it carries forward.

03

It draws on real clinicians.

Watershed holds a knowledge base built from the notes, training, and thinking of licensed, practicing clinicians — how people who listen for a living actually work. The most relevant pieces are pulled in to inform the response. And every time a clinician's knowledge is used, they get paid for it. That is the deal that makes the knowledge real.

04

It responds the way it was taught.

Curiosity before conclusions. Questions before advice. It starts from the assumption that what you are doing makes sense given what you are carrying — and it will not just agree with you to keep you comfortable. When something needs a real person, it says so and helps you find one.

Just as important — what it deliberately does not do

It isn't therapy.

No diagnosis, no treatment, no medical advice — and it tells you that plainly, from the first screen. It is a place to think out loud, built by people who know exactly where that line is.

It doesn't keep you here.

Sessions run 90 minutes and end on purpose. As the end approaches, Watershed winds the conversation down rather than cutting you off mid-thought, and it will tell you how much time is left whenever you ask. If you are subscribed, it says before the session closes that there is a one-hour break before you can begin a new one — so the ending is never a surprise. Most people use about 20 minutes. It is built to send you back to your life, not to maximize your screen time.

It doesn't learn from your conversations.

The clinical knowledge comes from clinicians who chose to contribute it. Your conversations are never added to it. What you say is used to remember you and respond to you — not to train the knowledge base.

One subscription, everywhere

$9 per month on the web, $12.99 on iPhone — and your access follows you between them. Before that, everyone gets 90 minutes free to try.

We are showing you the whole machine because we think honesty is the product.

For Licensed Clinicians

Your clinical knowledge is valuable. It should be treated that way.

Watershed is built by practicing therapists and we want to keep it that way. Contribute your clinical voice and get paid every time it's used.

What you contribute

Your clinical philosophy, in your own words

Watershed's knowledge base is built from the de-identified clinical experience and philosophical frameworks of licensed practitioners. When you contribute, you complete a detailed clinical philosophy form covering your orientation, your approach, and your hard-won perspective. That material shapes how Watershed responds to real people in real moments.

What you earn

You get paid. Every time your insight is used.

Every time your clinical material is used in a response, you get paid. Not a one-time honorarium. Not exposure. A per-retrieval payment tied directly to how relevant and useful your clinical thinking is. The better your contributions, the higher they rank. The more clients on the platform, the more your contributions earn.

At 1,000 active clients, if your content ranks first in even 10% of sessions, that's roughly 100 retrievals per day at $0.003 each, around $270 a month. That number grows with the platform.

Retrieval payout structure
Rank 1
$0.003
per retrieval, highest relevance score
Rank 2
$0.002
per retrieval
Rank 3
$0.001
per retrieval, qualifying threshold

Payout figures are estimates based on projected usage. Actual amounts will vary and will be refined as Watershed grows its user base. We'll share real data as it becomes available.

Referral network In development

We are building a referral system that connects Watershed users who are ready for clinical care with participating licensed therapists. When a user is matched with you through Watershed, you'll receive a warm referral with relevant context already in hand. More details coming soon.

Our clients are going to use these tools whether we want them to or not.

The question is whether the tools they turn to carry any real clinical weight. We think they should. And we think the clinicians behind them should be compensated for their insight, perspective, and education.

Complete the clinician interest form. We review every submission and verify licensure before onboarding. If it's a fit, we'll be in touch.
